North by the exterior walls, on the east and by two hug 6 m. Across hexagonal piers. A belt of Turkish triangles on pendentives encircles the rim of the large dome. On the exterior, it is girdled by a dodecagonal drum which, in turn, is reinforced by eight small arched buttresses. The portions of outer walls on which the major dome presses own are built thicker than the rest of the walls, and they are further strength-

Ended against the lateral thrust of the dome by buttresses. The smaller domed square units flank the central domed space on either side. The side domes are 10.50 m. in diameter the four triangular spaces left over at the junction of the central hexagonal area and the square side units are cored by tiny domes that occupy the center of stalactite decorated tripartite vaults. These intermediary domes give the impression of being forced on the upper structure. Although they possess some identity on the exterior. They get completely lost inside between the heavy arches and deep. Wedge like hollows in which they are set. In the south, the central unit was 10.10 m square. Units adjacent to it are equally deep but less wide.
